Lawrence Tiller

    Mr. Lawrence Tiller, Sr., 66 of Portal died Thursday, September 12, 2019 in Memorial Medical Center, Savannah, GA.  Mr. Tiller was born in Statesboro, GA on August 9, 1953 to Mr. Willie James Tiller and Mrs. Lealer Howard Tiller.

    At an early age he began attending Newton Grove Baptist Church in Portal, GA.  He attended the public schools of Bulloch County, GA.  He was employed by the ITT Grinnell Company for twenty-one years as a machine operator.

    Mr. Tiller had a unique sense of humor.  He was a pillar in his community, known to be counted on to help anyone in need in any way that he could.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Raymond,his parents, and five sisters, Freddie Jones, Beaulah Miller, Bertha Tiller, Ida Lou Tiller, and Shirley Tiller.

     He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish fond memories, three sons and three daughters-in-law, Terry and Charlotte Jones of Statesboro, GA, Lawrence, Jr. and Gwendolyn Tiller of Portal, GA, Shannon and LaKisha Tiller of Pooler, GA; three daughters and one son-in-law, Vernessia Raymond and Sheila Raymond both of Atlanta, GA and Sabrina and Jamaal Denson of Valdosta, GA; two brothers, Willie James Tiller, Jr. of Rex, GA and Johnny Lee Tiller of Allenhurst, GA; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Georgia Mae Dallas of Jacksonville, FL, Alene and Willie Williams of Union City, GA and Betty and Carl McClean of College Park, GA; twenty-one grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews , other relatives and friends.
