John L Raymond

John L. Raymond was born on August 9, 1942 in Portal, Georgia to Mr. Admer and Mrs. Minnie Owens Raymond. As a child, he resided with his parents in Metter, Candler County, Georgia.

Mr. Raymond retired from Candler County after more than ten years of employment as a heavy machine operator. He was a member of Stillmore Sanctuary Church of the Living God, Stillmore, Georgia.

On July 28, 1967 he was joined in marriage to the former Bernease Corley. They made their home and raised their family in Stillmore, Georgia. Ten years ago, the couple relocated to Sumter, South Carolina. Mr. Raymond entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at his residence after an extended illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Russell and L.W.; three sisters, Geraldine, Murtis and Corine.

He leaves to cherish fond memories, his loving wife, Bernease Raymond of Sumter, SC; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Randy and Judy Corley of Hallandale, FL, Johnny and Daphne Raymond of Waycross, GA and Tony and Judy Raymond of Sumter, SC; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Lamar Edwards of Statesboro, GA; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Jozell and Cynthia Raymond, Freddie and Ruby Raymond all of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Charlie Raymond of Hollywood, FL, Jimmie and Helen Raymond of Statesboro, GA; eighteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
