Jeffery Byrd

Mr. Jeffery Byrd was born to the late Mr. Curley and Jerlean Spann Byrd on September 30, 1961 in Metter, Ga. He entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 8, 2018 in Athens, Ohio. 

At an early age, Jeffery joined Saint Paul A.M.E. Church in Cobbtown, Georgia. He attended the public schools of Tattnall County, Georgia and he graduated from Tattnall County High School in 1979. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy, and served his country aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy he found employment with the Georgia Department of Corrections and the Federal Prison in Atlanta, Georgia. Jeffery later furthered his education at Southeastern Technical College in Swainsboro, Georgia. He began long distance truck driving 15 years ago. At the time of his death, he was employed by Foodliner, transporting bulk food ingredients throughout the United States.

                Jeffery truly loved and enjoyed life and laughing with family and friends. With his great smile and hardy laugh, He never met a stranger. In 1999, he was joined in marriage to the former Annie P. Brown.
