Floyd Mincey

Floyd Mincey was born on July 29, 1946, to the parents of Williease Mincey and Earl Ricks, Sr. Floyd was called to eternal rest on September 29, 2017.

Floyd attended the public schools of Evans County Georgia, graduating from Evans County High School in 1964. He later matriculated to Savannah State College (University) earning a degree in Sociology.  Having a strong yearning to become an attorney, Floyd enrolled in John Marshall Law School and earned a Jurisprudence Degree.  He then began living out one of his dreams, becoming a practicing attorney, first in Savannah, GA then in Dublin, GA. 

At an early age, Floyd joined the Oak Grove AME Church, Manassas, GA, where he attended regularly with his grandmother. While residing in Savannah, he joined the St. Philip AME Church.  He and his family later moved to Dublin, GA where he affiliated with First AB Church. After returning to Evans County, Floyd joined Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. 
 
Floyd was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herbert and Alice Bacon; a sister, Early Jean Mincey; and his father, Earl Ricks, Sr.

Floyd is survived by one son, Dax Mincey, Dublin, GA; four daughters; Attorney Tammie Mosley, Savannah, GA; Kimberly Mincey, Stockbridge, GA; Dr. Krista Mincey, New Orleans, LA; Nicole Mincey, Fort Valley, GA; one grandchild, Kendall Nicole Cornelius, Fort Valley, GA; mother, Williease Mills, Claxton, GA, step mother, Ollie Ricks, Claxton, GA; four sisters; Vera (Barto) Benjamin, Hinesville, GA; Rhonda Boggs, Claxton, GA; Jennifer Ricks, Claxton, GA; Leona (Aaron) Ellison, FL; three brothers; Earl Ricks, Jr., Claxton, GA, Jessie (Tracie) Ricks, Statesboro, GA, Ranson (Chris) Ricks, Indianapolis, IA; one uncle, J.T. (Betty) Mincey, Reidsville, GA; a great uncle, Coy (Delores) Mincey, Patterson, NJ; four sister-in-laws; Ora Carey, Mary Brown, Wrightsville, GA; Lollie (Moses) Hickey, Jonesboro, GA; two brother-in-laws; Gary (Kathy) Carey, Savannah, GA; Elester Wright, Wrightsville, GA, a special nephew, Danny (Monique) Roberts, Stockbridge, GA, a god-daughter, Melinda (Terry) Pullen, Wrightsville, GA and several nieces, nephews and friends
