Effie (Cheley) Simmons

Effie Mae Simmons, 62, of Collins, died Saturday, December 14, 2019 at her residence.  She was born November 3, 1957 in Tattnall County to Zobe and Carrie Cheley.  She attended the public schools of Tattnall County and worked on various farms and poultry processing plants in the area.  Effie was loved by many people.  She enjoyed playing cards and she always kept a smile on her face.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Henry Lee, Larry Cheley and Zobe Cheley, Jr.; two sisters, Lizzie Mae Cheley and Lizzie Maggie Cheley.

She is survived by two sons, Tyrone Cheley of Statesboro and Bobbie Cheley of Metter; one grandson, Bobbie Lee Collins of Metter; three brothers,  Johnny Cheley (Bessie) of Cobbtown, Jimmy Cheley (Sabrina) of Collins and Willie Cheley of Metter; seven sisters, Beatrice Cheley  of Collins, Riller Byrd (Willie) , Carrie Cheley, Maggie Cheley , Mary J. Henderson (Lucas) and Mary L. Scott (Bobby) all of Metter and Josephine Lows of Alamo; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
